In
the early history of the sport, pool balls were made
of brass and wood. Later they were made of ivory. Today's
balls are made of rubber and polyethylene. Balls range
in size from about 2 inches to2.4 inches. The white
ball which the player strikes with the tip of the cue
is called "Cue Ball."
The others, which are colored or striped, are called
"Object Balls."
