How
to get the ball in the pocket? First at all, you have
to comprehend the relationship between the Contact
Point, the Aiming
Point and angles of ball movement. Basically,
not only a straight shot, but also most kinds of angle
shots are based on the same theory, although a straight
shot is the simplest shot in this game.
For
instance, a cue ball and an object ball are in a formation
like the illustration above. Draw an imaginary line
from the center of the pocket through the center of
the object ball. The place where the line comes out
of the back side of the object ball is where the contact
point with the cue ball should be. Now, place a Ghost
ball (an imaginary cue ball) against the
Contact Point, and picture the center of the ghost ball.
This is your Aiming Point.
The
aiming point and contact point are different for every
shot that is not straight into the pocket. Seriously,
if you don't know how to find the aiming point, you
will miss the shot. As your release your shot, be sure
you are looking at the object ball; it can really improve
your accuracy. Be sensitive about the angles between
the pocket, the object ball, and the cue ball.
